Saor Ollscoil na hÉireann (Free University of Ireland) was established in 1986 by a small group of educationalists with the creative vision of a life-long learning process.
The Universityprovides third level education to degree standard for mature students in the area of the humanities and social sciences. and makes awards in the Liberal Arts at BA, MA and PhD levels.
The Bachelor of Arts (Humanities) programme is designed to:

Provide access to the knowledge and aptitudes required to enable citizens to participate fully in the economic, social and political spheres of Irish society.
Strong emphasis is placed on student-centred learning in a supportive, exam-free environment. Students are encouraged to develop their own thinking through dialogue and essays instead of cramming for final exams.
All lecturers and administrators offer their time and expertise free of charge. Students pay only a nominal registration fee per year. Fees are used for administrative costs.
This single college registration fee entitiles the Student to attend a variety of courses. It is recommended that a student take two or three courses per year
